IELTS Writing Score Jumped from Band 6 to 7.5 in 2 Months 兩個月內提升雅思寫作分數到7.5分

I am an offer holder of the University of Cambridge who achieved an overall score of 8 with at least 7.5 in each module. My score in writing improved significantly, from band 6 to 7.5 in just 2 months. In many cases, candidates score high in Listening, Reading, and Speaking, but are stuck—sometimes repeatedly—at 6 in Writing, so I am going to share my learning journey on how I improve the IELTS writing with Abu’s help.

First, getting to know the assessment criteria is extremely important, which I neglected before attending Abu’s class. In my first lesson, he clearly explained the four assessment criteria and identified areas where I needed to pay attention. I encountered great difficulties in identifying the key features of the graphs and diagrams, Abu then adjusted the teaching approach to meet my needs and comfortably paced the lesson. He also provided a step-by-step guide during the class, which allowed me to analyse the charts easily.

Furthermore, improving writing skills not only requires writing a lot but also requires receiving feedback from a teacher. I would like to thank Abu for giving personalised feedback on my writing, helping me identify areas where I needed to improve, and providing guidance on how to make those improvements during the class. Abu also went through model answers of the take-home exercise, which was a great way to better understand what I needed to produce to achieve my desired band score in terms of organisation, coherence and cohesion, and range of vocabulary. Therefore, it is also important to make note of these suggestions, which will be useful when writing.
